“Pakistan’s PDMA Issues Warning for May: Expect Rainfall and Heat Wave Nationwide”

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Issues Weather Advisory for Potential Rainfall and Heat Wave

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory cautioning residents across the country, particularly in Lahore and southern regions, about the likelihood of rainfall later this month coupled with an expected surge in heat intensity, raising concerns of a potential heat wave.

A spokesperson for the PDMA highlighted the forecast, indicating the possibility of light rain in various regions, with northern Punjab expected to experience moderate rainfall. Farmers in the Pothohar areas of Punjab have been urged to implement protective measures for their wheat crops in anticipation of the rainfall.

Furthermore, the PDMA underscored the risk of landslides in hilly terrains, stressing the importance of preparedness and vigilance among residents and authorities. The spokesperson emphasized, “There will be a notable rise in heat intensity during May,” particularly signaling a heightened risk of a heat wave in the southern parts of the country, especially in plain areas.

The spokesperson cautioned that major cities would be particularly susceptible to the impacts of the impending heat wave. The PDMA’s director general has instructed the administration to remain vigilant and proactive in monitoring the evolving weather situation.
