Prime Minister Declares Education Emergency to Enroll 26 Million Out-of-School Children

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made a groundbreaking declaration by announcing a nationwide Education Emergency, aiming to bring 26 million out-of-school children into the education system.

Speaking at the National Conference on Education Emergency held in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized the collective effort required from both the federal government and the provinces to ensure the enrollment of out-of-school children.

In his address, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the indispensable role of education in national development, asserting that no nation can achieve prosperity without a strong emphasis on education. He pledged personal oversight of the entire program to ensure its effective implementation.

Reflecting on his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, the Prime Minister highlighted his successful initiatives to boost school enrollment rates, particularly in underserved regions. He noted the implementation of incentives aimed at encouraging the education of girls in South Punjab. These incentives included stipends for female students and compensation for their parents to support their continued education.

Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif shared the success story of eradicating forced child labor under his leadership, citing the remarkable achievement of sending 90,000 boys, aged between eight and fifteen, who were previously employed in brick kilns, to schools.

Expanding on his commitment to providing quality education to underprivileged communities, the Prime Minister mentioned the establishment of Danish Schools. These schools, founded under his administration, not only offer quality education but also provide boarding facilities for disadvantaged students, ensuring access to education for those who might otherwise be excluded.
